Modern Beach Estate

Dane Spencer landscape architect helped this modern beach house to unifies the architecture and property together so the design is integrated as a whole.

This modern beach house renovation by Whitehead Construction requires a complementary landscape that unifies the architecture and property together so the design is integrated and simpatico as a whole. The client, dissatisfied with two previous landscape designs hired DS-LA to create an innovative design that captures the spirit of the building architecture.

Utilizing two existing coconut palms, (a third one was removed) we constructed four white concrete planters placed around the coconuts and two new Silver Date Palms. The elevated “bowling” zoysia lawn serves as a beautiful green carpet complementing the stark white of the hand-honed concrete. Swamp Milkweed and African Iris are planted in each of the planters to create habitat for the Monarch Butterfly who seeks out the milkweed specifically to start each new life-cycle.
